RESOURCES TO HELP WITH YOUR JOURNEY

DNA DETECTIVES: You can join this Facebook group and request a volunteer to help you. Sometimes, the volunteers can be extremely helpful in locating relatives for people.  Other times, volunteers experience “brick walls” and/or cannot find the relative(s) in which people are interested in locating.

THE "GREEN CHART": After someone tests their DNA with Ancestry, the list of DNA matches includes the amount of centimorgans (or cMs) that a person shares with each DNA match.  The cMs are usually more accurate for determining relationships between two people than are the relationship labels that Ancestry uses in the DNA match list.  The Green Chart uses the amount of cMs to describe how the match might be related to someone.
